China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association (CPCIA) is a non-government, not-for-profit organization composed of voluntary companies, institutes, sectional associations and local associations of the petroleum and chemical industry. It is a comprehensive national guild entity that provides service and implements certain administrative functions for the industry.

CPCIA carries out its mission through a number of activities, including:

To invest and research into the industry, and to provide expertise and comments for the development of relevant polices and regulations;

To collect, analyze and disseminate data and other up-to-date information, to build business information websites, and to promote application of IT technology in this industry; To develop themes and approaches that might be adopted or implemented flexibly by member companies, to encourage self-disciplined business behavior and fair market competition.

To promote fair and free trade in accordance with WTO rules and regulations, to assist the government in establishing the trade friction pre-alarm mechanism and communicating with international trade partners, and to work with member companies and the government to deal with relevant trade issues;

To issue quality certificate, production certificate with the authorization of the government; to support the government to develop industrial criteria and policies;

To assist the government in promoting and implementing initiatives and activities to encourage innovation and technology advancement, to review the annual technical achievements and recommend most valuable achievement for national award, and to promote best technology and best practice among member companies;

To facilitate member companies to share information and explore business opportunities by organizing events such as exhibitions, seminars, forums, etc;

To publish newspapers and magazines and to provide consultancy and training service;

To present member companies’ interest in regulatory work;

To coordinate the work of sectional associations and to identify key issues that could be the common concern of the entire chemical industry and seek solution with member companies and institutes;

To carry out other work and tasks entrusted by the government;

CPCIA was established on April 28.2001. Now it has more than 300 direct members, including 44 sectional associations, most influential Chinese petroleum and chemical companies, research institutes and universities, which covers all fields and sectors and represents more than 70% of China petroleum and chemical industry. CPCIA also enjoys close working relationship with relevant authorities in all provinces and major cities.

CCPIT Sub-Council of Chemical Industry (CCPIT CHEM), CCOIC Chemical Chamber of Commerce, a sub council of CCPIT and CCOIC, was established in July 1990. Based upon membership, CCPIT CHEM acts in accordance with the Constitution and Tenet of CCPIT, and dedicates herself to promoting trade exchange and economic & technological cooperation between China and the rest countries and regions, serving chemical industry and enterprises and accelerating the continuous industry development with our unceasing efforts.

Exhibitions as CCPIT CHEM’s main approach to promote domestic and overseas economic and trade exchange, comprise inbound and outbound exhibitions. After several years’ efforts and accumulation, a series of influential inbound exhibitions have been well established, such as International Chemical Industry Fair, China International Agrochemical & Crop Protection Exhibition, China International Adhesives and Sealants Exhibition; besides, exhibitions like ChemSpec China and Informex China have been launched and are still to be developed. We strive to own our brand exhibitions in the upcoming few years. Outbound exhibitions include self organization of mission and exhibition in foreign countries and national presentation in overseas exhibitions, which both achieved good social benefit. For instance, China Chemical Industry Fair held in New York’s World Trade Towel in 1995 was our first attempt in the developed country and represented by a mission over 200 delegates; to name a few more, China (Vietnam) Chemical Industry Exhibition, KIHMIA in Moscow, BCPC Conference & Exhibition in UK, ChemSpec Europe, CPhI Worldwide, Informex USA and SupplySide West(East) are all well received among exhibiting companies. Such exhibitions have established a platform for domestic enterprises to create more trade opportunities, grasp international market information and promote their own technology advancement.
